Many people know Rolls-Royce for its aircraft engines, but some of the technology that helps those engines operate safely and efficiently is designed and manufactured here at Birmingham Business Park.
This year, Rolls-Royce Control Systems marks 10 years at its Derwent facility, where more than 1,100 people work across engineering, manufacturing, testing and specialist support.
The site produces sophisticated control equipment for aircraft engines, including electronic engine controllers, fuel pumps, metering units and engine health monitoring systems. Together, these components help manage fuel flow and monitor engine performance throughout flight.
Derwent also brings a wide range of expertise together under one roof, with apprentices working alongside colleagues with decades of experience. Over the past 10 years, that team has supported major Rolls-Royce programmes while adapting to significant changes across the aerospace industry.
As the team looks to the next decade, Rolls-Royce is continuing to invest in new technology and opportunities for the next generation of skilled talent.
