Birmingham Business Park’s Onsite Security Manager, Adnan Aftab, is preparing to take on his first London Marathon in 2027, raising money for our charity partner, Birmingham Hospice.
Adnan will tackle the 26.2-mile challenge with a fundraising target of £2,500. While he enjoyed cross country at school, he hasn’t been a regular runner for some time and has been gradually building up his distance ahead of starting a 16-week marathon training plan.
Much of that preparation is happening here at Birmingham Business Park. Adnan has been using routes around the Park as part of his training, including a 1.1-mile route along Solihull Parkway and routes towards Marston Green shared by other local runners.
The challenge also has a personal significance for Adnan. His grandmother received care from what was then St Mary’s Hospice, now Birmingham Hospice, before she died from leukaemia in 1996.
By the end of September, Adnan had already raised £1,600 towards his £2,500 target through support from family, friends and businesses across the Park.
Read Adnan’s full story in the Autumn 2026 edition of BBP Life here, including why taking on the marathon has been a long-held ambition, his approach to training and what the challenge means to him.
